Zoila Forss

Zoila Forss-Crespo Moreyra was born in Lima, Peru, on April 18, 1969. In 1995 Forss received her BA in Communications from the National University of San Marcos, Lima, and attended the Cinema Academy of Filmmaking and Film Workshop. She used to work as a photography teacher, a writer in some local magazines and a school teacher. In 2000, she met her husband and moved to Finland. Besides studying Finnish language, Forss was a teacher of Spanish for adults until 2013. She also took the opportunity to study and work as a practical nurse for five years. In 2014 “Revontuli” (Colmena, 2014, Lima) was published in a bilingual edition. Her second poetry book, entitled “Syytön harppuuna / Arpón sin culpa / Unguilty Harpoon”, (Rosetta Versos, 2018, Helsinki) was published in a trilingual edition. Currently she is dedicated to finishing her third poetry book. Forss is a literary translator from Finnish to Spanish, especially poetry. Forss is engaged with the translation of a bilingual poetry anthology entitled “Holograma – Hologrammi”. Forss has been invited to several literary events and international poetry festivals, including Instituto Raúl Porras Barrenechea in Lima, Runoviikko poetry festivals in Turku and Helsinki, the Lahti Poetry Marathon, the University of Saint Andrew in Scotland and the T-junction international poetry festival in Middlesbrough, UK.
