A year of freedom of expression

PEN Finland is publishing 52 texts about freedom of expression during 2026.

The texts for the A year of freedom of expression-collection were gathered through an open invitation. The aim was a collection of diverse voices and languages.

In addition to Finnish and Swedish, text will be published in Northern Sámi, Arabic, Persian, Spanish, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Poems, aphorisms, essays, short stories and experimental texts were included. The selected texts in various languages will also be published in Finnish.

Authors of published texts include poets, writers of prose, aphorists, writers of essays, non-fiction writers, journalists, researchers and translators.
